GLOW FOAM PARTY – SATURDAY 3RD MAY

As summer is now upon us Saturday 3rd May will mark the start of this years foam parties at the Queenshilling. Launching in style on the first Saturday of the month otherwise known as GLOW. The club night where everything and everybody is glowing… literally. Daniel Stone will be on the decks mixing the best in funky, fresh and old skool house, with a squeeze of dance classics.

MISS GAY UK & IRELAND CONTEST – BRISTOL HEAT – SATURDAY 24TH MAY

The FIRST EVER BRISTOL HEAT OF THE MISS GAY UK & IRELAND CONTEST will be held at the Queenshilling on Saturday 24th May. Girls interested in entering are to do so on the night. The winner will then go onto represent Bristol in the final held in Birmaingham later in the year. Good luck girls!

This heat will take place on the NEW club night SWITCH which held on the forth Saturday of every month. The concept is simple… two nights in one! Half way through the night at approximately 1am EVERYTHING CHANGES! The music policy, the layout of the venue, the décor in the club, the lighting, the staff uniform, the on duty staff… you get the picture! The switch will take place within 60 seconds for which there will be a countdown and the nightclub will be in (almost) blackout. As the lighting gets powered back up the music will switch from CHART with STEVE JONES straight into ELECTRO with DANIEL STONE.

MR GAY UK – BRISTOL HEAT – SATURDAY 31ST MAY

It has reached that time of year again. It’s time to dig out your best panties and strutt your stuff as we crown Mr Bristol 2008. Contestants are to enter on the night and the winner will go onto represent Bristol in the final held in Blackpool. A night to remember. Good luck guys!

BRITISH RED CROSS ‘DRESS IN RED CHARITY NIGHT - SATURDAY 10TH MAY

This months CORE DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA will be supporting the BRITISH RED CROSS APPEAL WEEK with lots of luscious prizes in a chrity raffle and a chance for you to have a snap taken in the funked up photo corner. As always CORE will be serving alcohol all the way through until 6am with DANIEL STONE playing commercial dance, old skool and electro all night long.

CAMP AS TITS ‘PUBLIC SERVICE MONTH’

CAMP AS TITS Fridays monthly theme for May will be sexing up some of the public services. With Police on 2nd May, Doctors and nurses 9th May, Firemen 16th May and Sailors on the 23rd May. Those in costume will gain free entry.

The Queenshilling always aims to please and by popular demand we are now be open 7 nights a week. The new line up will see the opening of the Queenshilling on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Quiz will be kicking off at 9.15pm. The prize for the winning team will be a whole £50! A maximum of 5 people will be aloud per team. A jackpot prize of £20 will be rewarded to a team with all correct answers. Should no team get all answers correct then this jackpot will rollover onto following weeks until won! The jackpot currently stands at £100. Good luck all.
 BIG SATURDAYS – EVERY SATURDAY
 

As of March 2008 EACH and EVERY SATURDAY will be a BIG CLUB NIGHT! CORE our longest standing monthly club night will now be on the second Saturday of the month still with the bar serving until 6am and the raunchy Ruby Krystal up to her unusal mischief.

 SWITCH – A NEW CONCEPT IN CLUBBING
 

SWITCH will be on the forth Saturday of every month. The concept is simple… two nights in one! Half way through the night at approximately 1am EVERYTHING CHANGES! The music policy, the layout of the venue, the décor in the club, the lighting, the staff uniform, the on duty staff… you get the picture! The switch will take place within 60 seconds for which there will be a countdown and the nightclub will be in (almost) blackout. As the lighting gets powered back up the music will switch from CHART straight into ELECTRO.
 For the first part of the night up until 1am (before the switch), there will be a VIP lounge where the champagne will be flowing. VIP passes will be up for grabs throughout March as prizes on Wednesday nights WANNABE KARAOKE and bonus giveaways on THURSDAYS STUDENT SHAGTAG NIGHT. There will also be an oportunity on Friday nights to win your VIP passes by being the best dressed. (Check out the themes below)
 

VIP passes will get you QUEUE JUMP & FREE ENTRY to the venue and access to the VIP lounge until the switch. Otherwise the door tax for the launch night will be £7 or £5 NUS or for those with names on the guest list.

PEYTON LIVE FOR THE LAUNCH OF SWITCH – SATURDAY 22ND  MARCH
 PEYTON will be down for the night singing 4 tracks including ‘Higher place’. After his set the switch will take place. A night not to be missed! EXPERIENCE THE SWITCH.
 

PAULS TOUCH UP
 The Queenshilling facelift is almost complete with a contemporary linear design painted in the bar area providing the venue with a more metropolitan ambiance. The next fit includes some exciting lighting which can be expect to be completed by the end of March.
 

CAMP AS TITS ‘MUSICAL MONTH’
 CAMP AS TITS themed Fridays will now follow a monthly theme. March is musical month so each and every Friday the Queenshilling will be paying homage to some of the greatest stage shows. 7th Cats, 14th Chicago, 21st Fame, 28th Miss Saigon. Those in costume will gain free entry and those bes dressed will get VIP passes to the launch night of SWITCH on

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Now that hangovers from new year celebrations have subsided (or at least I hope they have!) I thought it would be a good time to inform you of all the lovely things you have to look forward to in 2008 as the Queenshilling gets ready to open 7 nights a week.

OPEN 7 NIGHTS A WEEK IN 2008

PAULS TOUCH UP

At the end of January the Queenshilling will be refreshing the paint work inside the venue. The ‘touch up’ will be complete for the launch of Snap, crackle & pop on Monday 4th February.

JANUARY SALE

The Queenshilling officially opened its January Sale on New Years Eve which will continue throughout the month of January on each and every Saturday of the month. Wristbands cost only £20 and include entry and inclusive drinks all the way through until 3am. Fosters, Blackthorn, all VK Bottles, Reef, all spirits on optics including Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, Malibu, Archers, Southern Comfort, Bacardi and Captain Morgans all with a mixer including Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Lemonade, VK Energy and tonic water.

CAMP AS TITS ‘CRYSTAL MAZE MONTH’

CAMP AS TITS themed Fridays will now follow a monthly theme. January is Crystal Maze month so each and every Friday the Queenshilling will be transformed into one of the 4 zones. 4th Aztech, 11th Ocean, 18th Futuristic, 25th Medieval. Those who find golden tickets will receive FREE SHOOTERS at the bar! In February the Queenshilling cruise will be stopping in 5 countries 1st Mexico, 8th China, 15th France, 22nd Spain and 29th Australiaaah.

Queenshilling October News Letter

HOLA

After such appalling weather this Summer, the Queenshilling has taken it upon itself to provide the ultimate warm up to the Winter season with its extensive events line up. The remaining events in October and superb line up for November will leave you nothing short of breathless as the Christmas festivities really get underway.

OCTOBER

This weekend sees the return of Pirates of the Queenshilling on Friday nights – ‘Camp as Tits’ with free entry to all those in costume and back by popular demand . The Traffic Light PAR-TAY this Saturday! £5 entry/£3.50 NUS. What colour will you be wearing???

DECADANCE

This Sunday and the last Sunday of every month, the Queenshilling will play host to Decadance. A club night that always has plenty to keep you entertained. 2 DJs, Drag Queens, dancers, the delicious crew plus various surprise acts. Entry to Decadance costs £5 and opening hours are 10pm-2am. RE:VIVE

Every other Sunday of the month DJ Dan Walker mixes the best in funky house. With free entry all night from 10pm-2am and drinks from £1. this is the ultimate Sunday Session. Q-FACTOR

This Wednesday sees the final heat of the current Q-FACTOR competition. The best singer of which, will automatically go through to the FINAL on Wednesday 31st October where they will stand a chance of winning £200 in cash. Have you got what it takes?

HALLOWEEN

Halloween celebrations will commence on Friday 2nd November with the medieval theme night and continue on Saturday 3rd November with Halloween Core. The monthly dance extravaganza with the bar serving alcohol all of the way through until 6am! However be warned this will be no ordinary ‘Core’ night, it will be one hell of a night. Literally!

MISS QUEENSHILLING 2008 / WORLD AIDS DAY

The Annual Miss Queenshilling Contest is now upon us. The BEST amateur drag contest this side of the Mississippi. Dig out those heels and don’t forget your slap, as you could hold the prestigious title of Miss Queenshilling 2008 and have an extra £250 in your purse for your next shopping spree. This is a charity fundraising event supporting the fantastic work of the Terrance Higgins Trust.

 World Aids Day will be marked on Saturday 1st December with ‘World Aids Day Core’. London based MC Total Tonic (FIRE, CRASH, TRADE) will be back on the mic to really spice up the night. Ruby Krystal and Madam Mayhem will be waiting to meet and greet with a champagne reception from 10.30pm. At only £5 entry and with the bar serving alcohol all of the way through until 6am this is not a night to be missed!

THE ANNUAL WHITE BALL

The rapid approach to Christmas means one thing, the countdown to ‘The Annual White Ball’. Saturday 15th December is the date in question where special guest Alex Party will be performing her classic anthem ‘Don’t give me your life’. Amidst the artificial snow and luscious décor the Annual White Ball promises to magnify the magic that is Christmas and kick start your festive holiday Shilling sty-lee. At just £5 entry and fab’ drink promos you cannot go wrong!

NYE2007

Shortly NYE2007 tickets will be on sale. All tickets are £25 and will buy you entry and a wristband which will enable you to drink the bar dry until 4am! Drinks will include Fosters, Blackthorn, all spirits on the optics with a mixer (house spirits will be used where possible), Reef, VKs, Wine and Corkey’s Apple Sourz shooters. The club will stay open until 6am with DJ Dan on the decks mixing the best in dance, funk and electro.
